Short Programmes & Camps

Short programmes and camps for international students exploring UK education at different stages.

At Lord Wandsworth College, international programmes are not end points. They are carefully designed stages within a wider educational journey, each one building readiness, confidence, and opportunity for what comes next.

Experience before commitment

For many international families and schools, a short programme is a brilliant first step. It allows students to experience British boarding education as it really is.

At LWC, short programmes are designed to help students:

  • Understand daily academic and boarding routines

  • Build confidence in spoken and academic English

  • Experience co-curricular life and pastoral support

  • Develop independence in a safe, structured environment

For some students, this experience leads to longer-term study at LWC. For others, it provides clarity and confidence to take their next step elsewhere.

A range of experiences.

Within our Short Programmes & Camps, LWC offers a small number of distinct, well-defined routes. Each is designed with a specific purpose, audience, and outcome in mind.

  • Our summer and winter camps offer structured immersion experiences that combine:

    • Academic enrichment

    • Sport and co-curricular activity

    • Full boarding and pastoral care

These programmes typically run for two to three weeks and are suitable for students across a range of ages and stages. Many students join having never experienced British boarding before.

    Camps provide:

    • A realistic insight into school life

    • Opportunities to build friendships and confidence

    • A sense of whether boarding education is the right fit

Students may go on to join LWC in Year 7, Year 9, Sixth Form, or not at all

  • LWC works in collaboration with Wimbledon School of English to deliver a two-week English language summer programme on the LWC campus.

    This programme combines:

    • High-quality English language teaching delivered by Wimbledon School of English and LWC

    • Full boarding within LWC’s senior houses

    • Sport, activities, and cultural experiences

The partnership brings together WSE’s academic expertise and LWC’s boarding environment, offering students a focused, high-quality immersion experience within a real British school setting.

  • For older students, LWC also offers specialist short programmes focused on entrepreneurship, innovation, and investing, delivered in partnership with InvestUp.

    These programmes give students:

    • Exposure to real-world entrepreneurial thinking

    • Insight into finance, investment, and decision-making

    • Opportunities to work collaboratively and think independently

They are particularly well suited to students considering future study in business, economics, or related fields, but also appeal to those interested in leadership and problem-solving more broadly.

Clarity, not pressure

Short Programmes & Camps at LWC are designed to inform decisions, not force them.

Following a short programme, students may:

  • Apply to the LWC Pathway Programme

  • Join LWC at a different entry point (Year 7, Year 9, Sixth Form)

  • Progress to another UK school or international pathway

  • Return home with greater confidence and clarity

All of these are successful outcomes. The value lies in experience gained and insight developed.

Confidence that lasts

Academic results matter, but they are not the only outcome that counts.

International students leave LWC with:

  • Confidence to contribute and lead

  • Independence and resilience

  • Cultural awareness and adaptability

  • A sense of belonging within an international community

These qualities underpin success at university and in future careers, wherever students go next.

Looking ahead with confidence

Choosing the right international pathway is about more than entry. It is about where that choice leads.
